Since school has been canceled for the remainder of the school year for some and until late April for others, kids still have to learn while they are at home. Schools have begun sending laptops home with kids that don’t have them and helping them with Internet access as well.

Even tho there’s a difference between homeschool and virtual school, I think this can be helpful for parents who were wondering about the amount of work their child should be doing while this CoronaVirus is still running rapidly through society.

Homeschool Time

For those that don’t know, homeschool is when the parents are teaching the child school work that came from school either in a packet or through their books while virtual school is done with a teacher using alternative methods of teaching such as online via Zoom or Blackboard or other forms of teaching that aren’t in person.

Of course, the younger kids will have a shorter time with school work b/c their attention spans are shorter and they get distracted more easily. However, these times can always be broken down across the day. It doesn’t always have to be done in one sitting.

For example, a 4th grader can do one hour of school work in the morning and another hour in the afternoon to complete the 2 hours of school work recommended per day.

Anyway, I just wanted to pass this along for those parents who are struggling with balancing working from home and helping their child adjust to school in a different environment at the same time. I know it can be tough especially on single parents or parents with multiple children.

Just know that I see you and I understand that it’s not easy, but hopefully, this helps a bit. Maybe trying to get a set schedule in place will help things become a bit more organized b/c children rely on that routine just like in school.

Mom and Dads, don’t forget to take some time for yourselves. It’s a hard time for all involved, but I’m confident that this too shall pass and we’ll be the better for it once it’s over. Take care! ❤
