Parenting doesn’t come with a manual and neither do your children. So, parents usually have to “go for what they know” when it comes to parenting. As a self-reflective exercise, I want you to think about your parenting style.ย
Questions:
In what ways can you change up your parenting style?
How were you parented?
What’s your ideal parenting style?
Is your style different from your child’s other parent?
What can you do to make things more harmonious for your children?
If nothing needs to change, how did you decide what worked best for your children?

I just want to look into parenting styles b/c to often parenting styles are not suited to the children, but they are suited to the parent and that doesn’t help anybody. The children grow up to become adults and what they experienced as children stays with them for a very long time and even gets passed down to their own children.
So, please be mindful of handing your children with care. Taking on raising children is a great responsibility and it can be very rewarding. However, you as the parent have to do the work so that your children can reap the benefits of a healthier, kinder, and assertive parent in you. ๐๐
Very nice guide for parents. I think you make a good point, parents are parenting the way they were parented and that affects their style.

Yes, it does affect their style. I’ve seen it go both ways. Either it makes them better or worse, but they’re definitely affected in some way by their parent’s style of parenting. Thanks for commenting! ๐
